raub

Raub is the name of a town in Pahang as well as the district. The word Raub is the Malay word for a handful, it is a verb and can be used as a noun also. It was intended to relate the story of the gold miners in the old days in Raub, when they can get a handful of gold (one raub) when they were mining in the town. The gold had attracted foreign miners from Australia that operated the open cast mine and the shaft mining. It is believed that the whole area including the town are affected by the underground tunnels, thus no tall building can be built in Raub for the fear of its safety.
