Kuala Medang

Kuala Medang, Situated at the congruent of two rivers flowing into Sungai Jelai, is a destination of different kind for both the local and foreign tourist . Located about 30 km from the nearest town Kuala Lipis, it is now accessible by road from Raub Pahang or Kuala Lipis. It is a place for those who love the natural green of the tropical jungle and like to feel the daily life of country side.

The village is about 200 km from Kuala Lumpur. There is no direct public transport. You can take the bus from Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Pekeliling, and the the ticket cost RM13/ per a single trip adult. The journey will take about three hours through town of Bentong and Raub. You may stop at Raub and ask a taxi to take you to Kuala Medang. Of you take the Kuala Lipis route, Kuala Lipis is about 40 minutes from Raub. Then at Kuala Lipis, you have to take taxi, another 40 minutes.

Before the road was built, it used to be a remote post accessible by four hours of boat ride through rapids and sometime, shallow river. Then you would enjoy the scenery of the traditional villages like Tanjung Gahai and many more.

Kuala Medang had been promoting the homestay concept. Popular with the youth from Japan, as they would like to have a feeling of how the traditional life is like for the Malaysian. Of course it is far cry from that of Kuala Lumpur, the rat race and the modern high rise, the tourist do not really fancy this, as they had enough i their own countries. They wanted what is different, so Kuala Medang provides that.

Imagine, you will join the local tracking a tiger that had been killing the cows. Set the trap for the mouse deer or following the abroginis with the blowpipe hunting a monkey. Please do not say it is cruel, for this is the way of life for thousands of years, it does not endanger the animals, it is the modern version of man that cause the most damages
