Vist to Kuantan - The State Capital

Kuantan is the biggest town in the easy coast of peninsular Malaysia and the state capital of Pahang since 1953. It is located near the mouth of River Kuantan and quite near to the sea. The town is well known among the local as the gateway to the beautiful beaches in the east coast.

The followings are the tourist attractions of the town:

1. Teluk Cempedak: One of the earliest beach resort in the east coast, complete with international hotels. Good place for bathing and basking in the morning or late afternoon sun. The beach is about 15 minutes drive from the town

2. Panching Cave: A natural lime stone caves about 1 hr from the town. You can spend some time to explore the cave and visit a Buddhist temple built inside the cave.

3. East Coast Mall East Coast Mall: It is newly opened and the biggest mall in the east coast. It is a popular hang-up place for the local, the mall is selling imported items,so if you are looking for local products survenirs, this is not the right place to shop.

4. Local shops along the Kuantan river sell local products ranging from batiks, handcrafts and local delights. You can get something to take home.

5.Kuantan River cruise. Check for the timing at the jetty. I think it is not too expensive, around rm10/ for the 2 hr cruise. Insist on the safety life vest for you and the whole family because the local are not too concerned about the safety issues.

6. Sungai Lembing Museum Sungai Lembing Museum: It is about 2 hours drive from Kuantan. It use to be the biggest iron ore open cast mining. However the mining activity has stopped and what remain is the museum.

I hope you enjoy you trip to Kuantan
